Black paint with gold accents sounded perfect though.</p><h3 class="wp-block-heading">Materials Needed:</h3><ul class="wp-block-list"><li><a href="https://www.stencil1.com/product/octopus-stencil-8-5x11/" title="Octopus Stencil (8.5″x11″)">Stencil1 Octopus Stencil</a></li><li><a href="https://www.stencil1.com/product/chevron-repeat-pattern-stencil-small-5-75x6/" title="Chevron Repeat Pattern Stencil -Small (5.75″x6″)">Stencil1 Chevron Pattern Small</a></li><li>Acrylic Paints: (Ivory Black, Gold Acrylics, Gel Medium)</li><li>Paint and Stencil brushes</li><li>Masking Tape</li></ul><p>This is very small and simple project. Here is the process.</p><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="640" height="853" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_1.png?resize=640%2C853&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-18857" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_1.png?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_1.png?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_1.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure><p>Step 1: Washing The Octopus. We used a hard bristle brush and soap to wash the octopus. Some of the blue paint came off but no worries, we can cover this up later.</p><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="640" height="853" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_2.png?resize=640%2C853&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-18856" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_2.png?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_2.png?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_2.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure><p>Step 2: Let it dry out, Use Black paint or black Gesso to cover up the octopus</p><p>Step 4: Using the Octopus Stencil and some tape, I placed it down in the head of the octopus. I went in with Gold acrylic paint and felt like it wasn&#8217;t enough. I wanted to give the golden octopus a little bit of depth so I started to mix the gold with Gel Matte Medium.</p><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="640" height="699" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_3.png?resize=640%2C699&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-18858" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_3.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_3.png?resize=732%2C800&amp;ssl=1 732w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_3.png?resize=768%2C839&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_3.png?resize=600%2C656&amp;ssl=1 600w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure><p>Step 5: Just go ahead and layer the paint and medium with the stencil. Allow it to try between each application.</p><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="633" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_4.png?resize=640%2C633&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-18859" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_4.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_4.png?resize=768%2C759&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_4.png?resize=600%2C593&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_4.png?resize=100%2C100&amp;ssl=1 100w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure><p>Step 6: Now Add the Chevron pattern to most of the tentacles, leaving a lot of black space to balance the composition.<br></p><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="853" src="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_5.png?resize=640%2C853&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-18860" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_5.png?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_5.png?resize=600%2C800&amp;ssl=1 600w, https://i0.wp.com/www.stencil1.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Black_Octopus_Gold_Chevron_5.png?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></figure><p><br>Step 7: Go back and clean any rough edges with a flat shader brush in the size extra small.
