So here’s how you do it…First stretch a shirt to fit nicely over a box or piece of cardboard. Next, Place the mylar stencil where you want your image to appear. You can stick some push pins into the stencil if you really want to hold it in place.
Next, you apply the fabric paint. In this example, we use a foam brush and fabric jar paint(other options are spraypaint and fabric sprayers). Hold your stencil in place and paint in all the open areas of the stencil. Go lightly, not too much paint on the brush and you’ll do swell! Stenciling is a dry-brush technique.
Once you’ve painted in all the areas, lift the stencil and you will see your work! Carefully remove the shirt from it’s box and let it dry a few hours at least. YOU HAVE TO NOW HEAT SEAL THE PAINT by ironing it or it will wash away! So iron it inside out or with a cloth between the design and the iron. Wash and Wear! And you can wash your stencil and store it for many more uses too!
