This Pop-Up Journal Entry was inspired by the Lotus 2 Layer Stencil and was so fun to make. I started by pulling out my Gelli Plate, The large-scale patterns offered by Stencil1 are so perfect for layering and pulling prints in a Gelli plate! I made about 50 prints on deli paper and vintage ledger paper.
I used the Lotus 2 Layer Stencil on a blush pink Gelli Print on vintage ledger paper and stenciled a spring green paint through the stencil, creating 2 Lotus Flowers.
After cutting out both lotus flowers, crease one of the flowers in half with the crease peaking up. Bend 1/3 of the outside two edges of the same flower under and crease. Glue those edges under on top of the second flower.

Select some Gelli Prints to use for your background and cut out any patterns or elements to incorporate.
After gluing down the Gelli prints, arrange some collage elements in both upper corners. Next, use the Radial 2 Stencil and place over both clusters and dry sponge aubergine paint through the stencil to marry the elements together.

I added a few circle garlands that had been stenciled with the PATTERNS #2 8 Pack Stencil and, placed the descending dots stencil also found in the PATTERNS #2 8 Pack Stencil and dry sponged lavender paint in both upper corners. I replaced this stencil when dry and used a white gel pen to highlight parts of the circles.

With a palette knife, spread acrylic glaze (I used a shimmery pink color) through the butterfly stencil (found in the Spring 4-Pack Stencil) onto clear acetate and cut out after drying. Fold and glue down partway into the opening of the lotus flower.

The finishing details included some stamping around the edges with embossing powders to draw your eye to the focal flower, a stenciled bee from the Spring 4 Pack Stencil leftover from my last spread, and a fortune saved from a fortune cookie.
I hope this art journal entry sparked some creative ideas, happy journaling!
