When a classic brand such as Puma wanted us to be a part of their 2016 menswear launch party, you can guess our answer was “YES!”.

Personally, I have worn Puma’s since I was a teenager and to see the brand grow and evolve is very inspiring. For the event, we created 2 custom stencils for Puma, a sneaker and the Puma logo mark and added in several of our designs – NYC Manhole, Chevron pattern, Ice Cream Cone, Heart Dripping, Fern, and the *new* Pineapple stencil – The Stencil1 team customized tote bags for the fashion blogger attendees and these kids knew what they wanted. They asked for some great layouts, played a lot with placement, and wanted those ombre treatments!

The end results can be seen here in some of our party photos:

Big thanks to all who attended and to Puma for having us be a part of the fun!

The pineapple image is celebrated as a fun design element and yet it has for centuries symbolized “Welcome” in decor and architecture. A rare fruit to Europe and early Colonial America, obtained not locally but through trade, the pineapple became very in demand. Only wealthy hosts could afford to offer this fruit to their guests so it became a symbol of generosity and affluence. Real pineapples were presented at entryways, later the iconic fruit started to appear in carvings and concrete sculptures.

So why not say WELCOME to your guests and update this traditional decor statement with a punch of color! Using the *new* Stencil1 Pineapple stencil, paint it above your door in your favorite bright, cheery color.

Things you will need: A shirt, paint and brushes, and the NEW Stencil1 Pineapple stencil.

Start off by placing the pineapple stencil in your desired location.

DSC05173

Get your paint ready. Here, we’re using Pebeo’s Setacolor Transparent in Light Green and Suede Effect in Bright Yellow, which gives an awesome suede finish when dry!

DSC05190

Using the yellow color, load up your brush. Dab excess paint on a paper towel, or even on the uncut sides of the stencil! This dry brush method will ensure paint won’t bleed underneath the stencil and the finished product will look as clean as a possible. This method is especially helpful for detailed stencils like the Pineapple stencil.

Paint away!

Using the green color, we painted the leaves and also the sides of the pineapple in order to give it an ombré effect.

Repeat as much as you like! You can never have too many pineapples.

Our stencils are designed by us and laser cut on a durable, washable, and reusable mylar material in order to provide a long lasting product our customers deserve. Not only are our stencils top quality, they are also Made in America!

Stencil1, since it’s launch in 2004, has manufactured all of it’s Stencil1 stencils in the USA. Being able to say Made in America on our products is something we are proud of. We also think it gives our customers a sense of comfort in knowing exactly where and how the product is made.

When asked by the team at Martha Stewart’s American Made, What does being American made mean to you? Owner, Ed Roth, had this reply:

“American Made means everything. We started here in Brooklyn, NY & there are many opportunities provided to small business owners in America. We took advantage of free advisors, free legal services and more to start our business. American made starts with the American dream and for me that was to find freedom in doing my own thing. I started Stencil1 with an idea to make stencils that were modern, eclectic, & different and soon enough I had an online business running. I started by stuffing stencil orders in envelopes from my home! I then got some great press which lead to stores calling and wanting to carry my line. My line? I don’t even have packaging, I told the buyers. They said “figure it out, we want it”. I did. All these elements are a part of the American business – our value of press, our industrial capabilities, our vast love of technology, our freedom to use all of these resources. Stencil1 has now been in business for 10 years and all of our product is American Made.” Read more
