Ed Roth presents 25 brand-new stencil designs—from retro-cool typewriters, microphones, and roller skates to elegant leaves, birds, and abstract shapes. Ed also offers step-by-step directions for more than 20 wildly creative projects that take stenciling to a whole new level. With the help of creative friends such as Erica Domesek of P.S. – I made this and embroidery queen Jenny Hart, Ed shows how to stencil on just about anything—T-shirts, leather, mirrors, food, and even hair—using a variety of techniques like stitching, etching, and more. All the stencils are varnished card stock : just wipe clean, dry, and store in the handy reclosable pocket at back!

Fashion Night Out

It’s that fun, sparkley time again, Fashion’s Night Out!

Last year I went to several events, shopped, drank, looked at great clothes, all that fun NY nightlife fashion fun. This year I have done a little early shopping and will be doing more of a Fashion’s Night IN, creating a lot of garments and accessories for my next upcoming book Stencil Style. Some things I will be using are Stained by Sharpie Fabric Markers, Martha Stewart Fine Glitter, Clorox Bleach Pens, and my own Stencil1 Sprayers.  Not just t-shirts this time, I’m customizing some huge bangles, a few women’s dress jackets, and men’s ties among other things. Once I get rolling, it tends to become a snowball effect and I want to experiment and see what comes of it. Adding some spray effects to wood bangles, trying combining Martha’s glitter and glass beads for new colors and textures, just getting into it!

The Stencil1 crew stenciled 99 rooms in a new NYC Boutique hotel and in this video Dolinda Meeker (aka DeLo) and I  paint the last of the 99 rooms to show you just how we did it! We custom designed three designs – dancing girls, a blues singer, and a taxi in motion- all over 8 feet tall!  Hope you enjoy it!

Last night I attended Design on a Dime, a fund raising event held by Housing Works Thrift Shops.   I often shop at Housing Works, I have found everything from industrial steel furniture here down to some nice worn in Levis. All proceeds from sales  help those living with and affected by HIV and AIDS.  Top designers decorated rooms where attendees could shop and the deals were to be had! In attendance were Nate Burkus, Iman, Andy Cohen, Lara Spencer and many other noted designers. I purchased an African woven basket from Iman’s booth as well as some Klipsch headphones which were in her room next to some signed Bowie cd’s! Here are some pictures of the event and some of the things i liked. Enjoy.
