Stenciled Pocket Panel Denim DIY

Stenciled Panel Pockets

Paneling, it’s when there is a patch of fabric sewn behind a hole in your jeans. It seems like a natural progression that with the trend of denim with slashes and holes in them that we should now want to patch them up in a creative way. I have sewn some African fabric into the panels in the past but this one requires no sewing! The slashes I made in these Levi’s peeked through to the pocket cloth and I hated how it looked so I thought, why not embellish it? I wanted it to have an indigo dye Japanese vibe so I used our Asian Star stencil, Pebeo blue fabric paint (Blue Jean is the exact color) and some spray adhesive to hold the stencil and a stencil brush. Here’s the breakdown…

The pockets peek through these Levi’s, don’t you agree they just need something more?

Turn the jeans inside out and lay the pocket facing up on a flat surface.

You can use low tack spray adhesive to hold the stencil in place. I recommend it when the stencil design is especially detailed like this pattern stencil is.

I painted in a distressed style to make it look vintage and faded. Sorry for the blurry photo on this one.

Dear Levis, when printing this certificate on the pocket, let’s have more fun and print some Stencil1 designs inside 🙂

Peek-a-boo, I see a stenciled panel…

Dry the paint with a heat gun or hair dryer and heat seal it with an iron then wear them! What’s your take on this DIY? Please share your creations with us @stencil1
